Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information the Emad Aswani learning platform collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We have tried to keep it plain and specific rather than vague.
1About this policy
This policy covers the website at emad-aswani.com, the student dashboard, the tutorial library, the quizzes and the notifications we send. It applies to students, and to the parents and guardians who register or pay on their behalf.
It should be read together with our Terms and Conditions, which set out the rules for using the platform.
2Who is responsible
Mr. Emad Aswani is responsible for the personal data described here and decides how it is used. If you have a question about your data, or you want to exercise any of the rights in section 11, contact us using the details in section 14.
3What we collect
Information you give us
- your first name and last name;
- your email address, which we ask you to confirm before you can request a tutorial;
- your school year, so that we can show tutorials that match your level;
- your password, which is stored only as a secure one-way hash and is never visible to us;
- anything you write to us by email, WhatsApp or through the platform.
Information from Google sign-in
If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from your Google account so that we can create or match your account. We do not receive your Google password, and we do not get access to your other Google data.
Information created as you use the platform
- the tutorials you request, the date of each request, and whether access was granted, along with any expiry date;
- the internet network address (IP address) you used when you requested access, which is explained in section 5;
- how far through a tutorial you have watched, shown as a progress percentage;
- your quiz attempts, answers, scores and the network address used for each attempt;
- amounts recorded against your account for tutorial access;
- security and activity logs, including sign-in events, important changes and errors, along with the network address involved.
Technical information
Like any website, our servers record standard technical details such as your browser type, device type, the pages you request and the time of the request. If you turn on browser notifications, we also store the subscription details your browser gives us so that we can deliver them.
We do not collect card or bank details. Payments are arranged with Mr. Emad outside the platform, and only the amount recorded against your account is stored here.
4Why we use your data
We use your information for the following purposes, and no others:
- Running your account. Creating it, confirming your email, signing you in, resetting your password.
- Delivering tutorials. Processing your access requests, granting or renewing access, and playing videos only to students entitled to watch them.
- Preventing sharing and piracy. Checking that playback happens on the network the access was granted for, and reviewing access records where we suspect misuse.
- Tracking learning progress. Showing you and Mr. Emad how far you have watched and how you scored on quizzes, so that teaching can be adjusted.
- Keeping you informed. Sending emails and notifications when a request is received or granted, and other messages about your account.
- Keeping the platform safe. Blocking automated abuse with reCAPTCHA, keeping security logs, and investigating problems.
- Meeting our obligations. Keeping records we are required to keep and responding to lawful requests.
We rely on the agreement between us to provide the service you asked for, on our legitimate interest in protecting paid content and running the platform securely, and on your consent where you have given it, for example for browser notifications. We do not use your data for advertising and we never sell it.
5Network address and access control
When you request access to a tutorial, we record the internet network address you sent the request from. Playback is then allowed only from that same network. If you connect from a different network, the video will not play until we review and update your access.
We do this for one reason: tutorials are paid content, and tying access to a single network is the main way we stop one paid account being shared across many students. The address is not used to track your location, to build a profile of you, or for any marketing purpose.
Network addresses are also recorded against quiz attempts and in our security logs for the same protective purpose. If your connection changes for a genuine reason, contact us and we will update the record.
6Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies and browser storage items. They keep you signed in between visits, let us refresh your session safely, and remember basic preferences. Without them the platform cannot keep you logged in.
Google reCAPTCHA sets its own cookies on the sign-in, sign-up and password reset pages in order to tell real students apart from automated scripts. Our video provider may also set cookies that are needed to stream and protect the video.
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, but if you block the necessary ones you will not be able to sign in.
7Who we share data with
We do not sell your data and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. We share only what is needed with the providers that make the platform work:
- Our video hosting and protection provider, which streams tutorial videos securely and prevents unauthorised copying.
- Google, for optional sign-in and for reCAPTCHA anti-abuse checks.
- Our email delivery provider, which sends confirmation, password reset and notification emails.
- Our hosting and infrastructure provider, which stores the application and its database.
Each provider may only use the data to perform the service for us. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to establish or defend legal claims, for example in a case of content piracy.
8How long we keep data
- Account details are kept while your account is open, and are deleted or anonymised within a reasonable period after you ask us to close it.
- Access records, progress and quiz results are kept while you are a student and for a period afterwards, so that past performance can be reviewed and access disputes resolved.
- Payment records are kept for as long as accounting and tax rules require.
- Security and activity logs are kept for a limited period and then removed.
Where we no longer need data for the purpose it was collected for, we delete it or remove the details that identify you.
9How we protect your data
Traffic between your browser and our servers is encrypted. Passwords are stored only as secure hashes, access tokens are protected before they are saved, and administrative areas are limited to Mr. Emad and authorised supervisors. Important actions are written to an audit log so that unusual activity can be investigated.
No system can be guaranteed completely secure, so please help by keeping your password private and telling us immediately if you think someone else has used your account.
10Students under 18
Many of our students are school age. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should read this policy with you and agree to it before you register. A parent or guardian may contact us at any time to see what information we hold about their child, to correct it, or to ask us to delete the account.
We collect only what we need to teach and to protect the tutorials. We do not profile students for advertising and we do not share student data with advertisers.
11Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
- delete your data where we no longer need it;
- restrict or object to certain uses of it;
- withdraw consent you have given, for example for browser notifications.
You can update your own name, school year and password from your dashboard at any time. For anything else, write to us using the details below and we will respond as quickly as we reasonably can. Note that we may need to keep some records, such as payment records, even after an account is closed.
12Data outside Egypt
Some of the providers listed in section 7 operate servers outside Egypt. Where your data is handled outside the country, we take reasonable steps to make sure it is protected to a standard comparable to the one described in this policy.
13Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the platform develops or as the law changes. The date at the top of the page shows when the current version took effect. If a change is significant, we will tell you by email or through a notice on the platform.
